Presentation of les Arcs ski resort

The story of an exceptional ski resort

Les Arcs resort is a ski area peaking at 3226 meters (Aiguille Rouge). The station and the many accessible skiable peaks offer fabulous views over the Tarentaise valley and Mont Blanc.
The story of Les Arcs resort starts when Robert White, a mountain guide and ski instructor native of the area meets Roger Godino, in charge of tourism development in mountain areas. The villages are built on four different sites and have a ski area of over 160 km. Here is an outline of the construction of this ski resort:

1968 : Arc Pierre Blanche or more commonly, Arc 1600
1974 : Arc 1800,
1979 : Arc 2000,
2003 : Arc 1950,
2003 : Link with La Plagne: Opening of Paradiski.

The creation of Les Arcs is part of the tourism development of the French Alps in the 1960's and is also part of the « Snow Plan » generation such as La Plagne, Les Menuires, Val Thorens, Flaine, Avoriaz and Les Arcs. These resorts have high-altitude ski areas and are located on the municipalities whose residents (and voters) mainly live in the valley of Bourg-st-Maurice.

The concept of integrated ski area such as Les Arcs was applied to les Arcs by Roger GODINO and the SMA Mountain Arc .
